I saw this for the first time via DVD rentals thru Netflix back in 2009 while I was in College. I try and watch it every year as it never gets old. A film about youth. Female Angst. Quirkiness. Dark wit. Embracing your weirdness. It really is pure art in film though. The costume designer Mary Zophres nailed it. Every outfit, every detail. The creepers, the raptor t-shirt (still looking for one!) the cat eye glasses, sailor dress - the mix of fashion and costume pieces in so many of her looks are pure magic! One of the best adaptations of a graphic novel to film in my opinion. I actually started wearing cat eye glasses because of Enid. Forever my style icon. Thrift queen, vintage lover and just way ahead of her time in my opinion in terms of anti-fashion style. Everything happening at the same time, no rules.
